The Community Life 2

Types of communities

We can distinguish three types of societies and give them names as follows: the society in the state of emergency, the growing society and the high performance society. Different types of companies exist side by side, because there are various groups of people with different problems. We should get to know our situation as best as possible, because our civilization is unstable. As long as we are advised by specialized expert, of which few have any idea of a whole, we must expect failures.

The society in the state of emergency

We have to face the immediate need to survive the day, week, year. Basic services have to be established, the use of resources must be organized and the basic rules of living together in emergency should be etablished. Emergency needs solidarity agreements to protect the whole. Therefore property will be respected only to a limited extent. Rare goods are measured and distributed to all. There is also the obligation to work. Anyone who can move helps where it makes sense. People with understandable ideas dominate. In a better situation management by a majority will be possible. The state of emergency includes something of romantic. We have useful things to do.

The growing society

Pople seek comfort, luxury and lasting values. The developing phase between the state of emergency and a high performance society is dominated by this quest. Any progress is rather uncritically welcomed. People who can and want to achieve something, come to power and wealth. Inequalities in formation of wealth are little perceived as long as everyone benefits from progress. As long as the purchasing power is greater than the capacity of tenderers, people will create new business opportunities and this will engender new jobs. The crowing society is an optimistic society.

The high performance society

As their name suggests, the high performance society is powerful. Thus, it has also a lot of force to accomplish something unpleasant. It should not be achieved quickly, because it is a dangerous thing if immature people are sitting at the big levers. We have now this situation and we know it. The high performance society would actually be an excellent basis of general welfare and happiness. But because we are not mature and able enough to take advantage of the favor of the time, it has become a competition of each against anyone at all levels. The production facilities have become much larger, while the options to selling products are always limited. This means that companies come under pressure. They are looking to meet with cheaper prices. They rationalize, they lay people off and the remaining people have more work to do. The lenders no longer trust companies. The laws encourage speculation. Money is won and lost. The distorted incentives do their effect. Our high performance society brought us not prosperity and general happiness. She brought a climate of fear.
