Who is I?
Our experience provides evidence that it is almost impossible to define the dimensions of a human being exactly. We do not know who we are and why we are here. It would be a good thing to admit this and to dismantle existing prejudices and blockages of perception on this matter. Therefore, some examples illustrating uncertainties could be helpful.Where are the external borders of man?
Some people have themselves experienced incidents where their external borders of their being appear like flowing. The hypnosis is such that perhaps a man can creat an influence on someone causing him to do things he normally would not do. For instance, behind your back is someone harboring a hatred aimed at you. Maybe you can actually feel him staring at you. This can make you feel unprotected or places you in a dangerous situation. Fortunately, if someone loves you, you can that too. People can sometimes have a special bond with their animals. A bond is established and both the animal and the owner can anticipate an illness or an accident occurring to one or the other without being in the presence of the other. Many people have experienced stories like the following: I am lying in bed. I am totally relaxed. I feel myself loosing contact to the bed and sliding toward the ceiling. Should I continue and slip outside, through the ceiling, through the roof? I do not know what would come if I let the sliding continue. But, maybe if I do allow it to continue I would not return back home if I wanted to do so. I say no to the risk and find myself in my body, back again in my bed, in the world I am acquainted to. A woman is kneeling beside her husband. He is a victim of an accident. She calls upon him: Stay here, do not forsake me, do not die! With whom is she speaking? With his will, his spirit, his awareness, his soul? He should not leave his aching body. Stay with me, she pleads. We know our body. It is our tool. It grows, it digests, it regenerates itself. It does amazing things and we do amazing things with it. But our awareness does not always respect the shape of the body. It sometimes wanders around it. The relationship of the ego, of awareness to its own body and sometimes to other creatures is unclear. We are not sure, where our own borders are. If awareness is not directly tied to a body, it is also not clear whether and how the awareness is limited by the existence of a body and its life span. The fixed personality image that we normally assign to ourselves and others is a fiction. It does not correspond to reality.
