Respect, humility, and culture of debate
Respect and humility
Without mutual appreciation and humbleness, the world is not a happy and peaceful place. Appreciation means to treat our neighbors in the way we want to be treated. Humbleness means to see the goodness inside of everyone. If you see the good in someone, you give him an impulse to see the goodness in himself and to act accordingly.
Showing appreciation and humbleness toward the environment is especially important for young people, because they will have to live with our homemade environment problems.
It is not enough to invent new environmental requirements with tolerable limits for pollutants. The debate on values and limits is certainly needed but a real change of attitude towards the environment is vital.
It is outrageous to pollute the world up to defined limits, because respect and humility before the life teach us, to deal carefully with our whole world.
Why is a culture of debate needed?
We need a culture of debate because people are who they are and they often try to gain an advantage at the expense of children, parents, neighbors and the environment, by imposing their wishes or will upon them.
People strive within the family, community, party, nation or internationally for dominance. There are always great opposing forces needed to limit injustice, violence, domination and corruption.
Everywhere people try to occupy a unduly large place. Therefore there are people everywhere who are arrogant and the brakes must be applied against their abusive pretensions. Without a culture of debate the arrogant would take power over everyone and everything.
Balance of Power
We are the good guys. The others are the bad ones. We say that in many cases. The others say the same of themselves. Usually both parties are right, because both parties include some good as well as problematic and bad elements. This is the ordinary situation.
Even if the best of all parties have the sole say, it has the bias to become a very troublesome dictatorship. Power-obsessed people joining a group have good opportunities to slide upward, because people from the same camp barely hurt each other.
Complaisant job placement and corruption in a community can lead to incredible states. A political party, an army, a business group, a religion, a family group or any other lobby can become dominant.
The methods of monopoly parties are always the same: They present their program as the only correct solution to many problems. They benefit from their power. They create their own laws.
They demonize other views and make different thinking ridiculous. They limit the freedom of expression. They create images of enemies and pursue their enemies. They favor injustice to their profits, and promote a coarsening of manners at the costs of others.
As long as people are not perfect, a strong culture of debate is necessary. Where there are only two parties, the weaker party needs to be strengthen, to ensure that enough people can apply the brakes, when the stronger party shows improper behavior. The so-called whistle-blower and people who „disgrace“ common opinions are useful for the society. Those who claim honor and respect for their own pretensions are mostly vermin.
Addendum 2011.12 corruption
The motives which encourage corruption are mostly different by women and men. Thus, women and men interfere with each other. This is a help against corruption.
Therefore they should be represented in boards approximately one half each.
